pretty much
= a relatively large amount, kind of a lot

strictly
= only, in one way

a pedestrian
= a person walking on and next to streets

a lack of
= not having enough of

obviously
= of course, clearly

to stare
= to look at for a long time

to be annoying
= to be irritating, 腹立たしい

to stick out
= to stand out, to be easily noticed because different

Brazilian jiu-jitsu
= a self-defense system that includes a lot of fighting techniques while lying on the ground.

to severely maim (someone)
= to badly injure (someone)

kung fu
= unarmed Chinese martial arts, resembling karate

A: So, you never broke any bones?
B: No.
Note that, in contrast to Japanese, to agree with a negative sentence, the second person needs to say "No."
Example 1:
A: It's not snowing outside now?
B: No. It's warm outside.
Example 2:
A: You are not French?
B: No, I'm Japanese.

= a lot of

taekwondo
= a Korean form of fighting, using techniques from China and Japan

goujyu-ryu
= 剛柔流, karate using hard and soft techniques

Gichin Funakoshi
= 船越儀珍 (1868-1957), often called “the father of modern karate”

showy
= flashy, 派手な、人目をひく

a strike
= a hit, a punch or kick

the hips
= the waist, 腰

whether… or…
= …か(または…か)

to sway
= to swing

craftsmen
= people who make things with their hands

momentum
= movement and energy, 勢い

however
= no matter how

to redirect
= to change the direction of

to beat… up
= ひどい目に合わす、傷つける

ground work
= wrestling on the ground

if you ever happen to be
= if you ever are by chance

like a fish flopping around
= imagine a fish out of water on the ground, helplessly trying to save itself

= to change, to modify

= the name of Anna's teacher

cuddly
= comfortable, you want to hug it, 抱きしめたいような、とてもかわいい

= smoothly moving

= clear and new ideas

= an expression or word

= many, various

= at a high flat area, not improving
