In John 18, Jesus says three words and 600 people fall to the ground. But in Matthew 14, when He was undoubtedly exhausted, Jesus is moved by compassion. He takes His time, healing the sick and feeding the hungry 5000. In this episode, I wanted to explore that phenomenon. How did You have the frame of mind to not just speak a word, wave Your hand, and go back to resting?

And how can I do the same?

Have you ever had a bad day, wanted to talk about it, but then the moment someone asks “Hey, how’s your day going?” you shut down? In your head, you don’t want to open up to someone who isn’t ready to receive what’s actually going on. If they ask repeatedly and assure you they want to listen, then you share.

That’s me!! So we’re gonna be looking at 1 John 1:5-10, and how relationship with God can help not only counteract that behavior, but heal what’s at the root.

Idolatry is a lot easier to fall into than you may think. But it's also something God has a lot more compassion for than we think as well! In this episode, I hope you find some relief in a conversation about idolatry. I don't want you walking away from this episode feeling condemned, but equipped. And most importantly, seen and loved :)

Do you ever "mess up," so to speak, and sin, leaving you feeling dejected and condemned? Obviously, you know that you are forgiven, but it feels better to isolate yourself. Maybe you want something from God, but now that you've done this thing you promised God you wouldn't do again, of course, you don't deserve good things.

I wanted to explore this idea a bit in this episode. God reminded me that we are not meant to disqualify ourselves because of our sins. He reminded me that I can let go of the burden of trying to make myself feel qualified -- that it's His job.

As we explore the Prodigal Son in this episode, I hope this message resonates with you as much as it has resonated with me!

The first quote is from my cohost for this episode, Kass. It's so true. We say that our heart's in forever but our mind is always on temporary.

This episode is about how our feelings keep us tethered to the temporal, but the facts of the Bible anchor us in the eternal. Sometimes we have feelings or desires that go against what God has for us in the moment, and we need to choose to follow Him rather than our feelings. It's hard, but He's worth it!
