YNAB At the End of the Month
The end of the month / beginning of the month are my favorite times. We get paid monthly so it's when I wrap up the previous month and set up the next month. What I do in my YNAB though is not what everyone does.
Most people do what I think what YNAB teaches... to budget any extra dollars into the next month and start working on getting a month ahead. That doesn't work for me. If my grocery budget is $400 and I only spend $300, then I roll over $100 to the next month, I'll likely spend $500 the next month - my typical $400 and the extra $100.
Instead, when Brandon and I sit down for our monthly money meeting to wrap up the month and set up the next month, we use it as an opportunity to align our money with our top priorities. Today, I'll reveal our process and you can consider if this will work for you too.
