Yoga and meditation are not separate practices but a natural progression of preparation, attention, and inner stillness. In this tradition, asana, or posture, helps position the body so it can become steady and comfortable enough for deeper inner work. Pranayama, or breath control, steadies the nervous system and creates a sense of rhythm and calm. Pratyahara begins the turning inward of the senses, reducing external distraction so awareness can gather itself. Dharana then trains concentration by inviting the mind to rest on one point of focus, such as the breath or a single word. As that concentration becomes more continuous and less effortful, it matures into dhyana, or meditation, where attention is sustained with greater ease.
