Yoga for Beginners: "Ujjayi Breath" Class

Ujjayi breath, translated as "Victory" breath, is the type of breathing we use when we practice Yoga asana. It is the most important part of the practice. The point of using Ujjayi breath is to become victorious over your body and victorious over your mind by focusing so fully on your breathing and the present moment, there is no room for unconscious thinking and moving. Ujjayi breathing helps to give us absolute control over the breath, it heats our bodies up from the inside out helping to avoid injury and because it is an audible breath it gives our monkey minds something to focus on.
