15th Sutra Chapter 2

For one who has discrimination, everything is suffering on account of the suffering produced by the consequences [of action], by pain [itself], and by the saṁskāras, as well as on account of the suffering ensuing from the turmoil of the vṛttis due to the guṇas 

 

Indeed, pleasure is particularly deceptive and especially perpetuates saṁsāra, since it is the memories of pleasure that propel people to try to re-create and re-experience that pleasure, and thus get caught in the vicious cycle of karma that perpetuates saṁsāra.

15th Sutra Chapter 2

परिणामतापसंस्कारदुःखैर्गुणवृत्तिविरोधाच्च

दुःखमेव सर्वं विवेकिनः

parinamatapasanskaraduhkhairgunnavrittivirodhaccha duhkham eva sarvam vivekinah

·       parinama - consequence

·       tapa - pain

·       sanskara - subtle impressions

·       duhkhaih - sorrows

·       gunna - gunas, prakriti

·       vritti - activities, modifications

·       virodhat - contrary, opposition

·       cha - and

·       duhkham - pain, sorrow

·       eva - is only

·       sarvam - all

·       vivekinah - to one who discriminates

परिणामतापसंस्कारदुःखैर्गुणवृत्तिविरोधाच्च दुःखमेव सर्वं विवेकिनः

परिणाम , ताप , संस्कार , दुःखै , गुण , वृत्ति , विरोधात् , च , दुःखम् , एव , सर्वम् , विवेकिनः ॥

• परिणाम - परिणाम दु:ख,

• ताप - ताप दु:ख (और)

• संस्कार - संस्कार दु:ख, (इन तीन प्रकार के)

• दुःखैः - दु:खों के कारण

• च - और (तीनों)

• गुण - गुणों (की)

• वृत्ति - वृत्तियों (में परस्पर)

• विरोधात् - विरोधी स्वभाव के कारण

• विवेकिनः - विवेकी के लिए

• सर्वम् - सब-के-सब (कर्मफल)

• दुःखम् - दु:खरूप

• एव - ही हैं ।

परिणाम दु:ख, ताप दु:ख और संस्कार दु:ख, इन तीन प्रकार के दु:खों के कारण और तीनों गुणों की वृत्तियों में परस्पर विरोधी स्वभाव के कारण विवेकी के लिए सब-के-सब कर्मफल दु:खरूप ही हैं ।
