Topic (VP) intro
Our experience with VPs (use, ownership)

-Yoss - bad experience initially

-Brownie - first gold nib, first over-100 pen, first over $300 pen with the raden galaxy, currently own 16 with 3 having custom grinds

History on the VP (http://carmenriverapens.com/Vanishing_Point_images/index.htm)

  • Was originally called capless, still persists in Japanese versions of the pen

  • Debuted in November 1963 as a twist action (like the modern fermo) and had an aluminum nib

  • Second version came out in December 1963 and was a gold-filled version of the same design

  • Became a click-action pen in the May 1964 release, dominated the history, first iteration of the modern design

  • May 1968 had a unique sliding cap mechanism that only lasted in this model, incredibly rare and one brownie’s grails

  • Truly modern design debuted in December 1998

  • The twist action came back in September 2006 as a Japan-only release called the FERMO

-opinions

-Yoss - traded mine for a parker 51 set, clip placement, grip issues, dislike of the CC

-Brownie - The convenience, sheer number of finishes, easy nib swapability, cartridge makes it easy to fill worst case scenario, grip actually works in my favor because that is my grip
