Make Art Be Happy

You Already Know. You're Just Waiting for Permission.

Listen Later

You can decide what everyone else needs in a heartbeat. The dinner, the gift, the hard conversation, the right thing for your kid, your friend, your mother. You’re good at it. People count on it.

So why does it go quiet the moment the decision is for you?

The studio time. The price. The no. The yes that isn’t useful to anyone but you. Suddenly you need more information. You want to talk it through one more time. You’re waiting for a sign, a green light, someone to tell you it’s okay.

You’re not indecisive. You already know. You’ve just learned to wait for someone else to say it first.

In this episode we look at where that waiting actually comes from, why it feels safer than choosing, and what changes when you stop asking the room for permission and start trusting the thing you already know.

Nothing has gone wrong here. You’re not behind. You’re one decision away from a different week.

Listen wherever you get your podcasts, or right here.

So before you close this out and let the day swallow the idea, I want to give you somewhere to put it.

I made a little tool. It lives on my website, and it is four questions. They will not talk you into making art. They are there so you can hear your own thinking clearly enough to decide on purpose, the same way we just worked through. And here is the part I love: when you get to the end, it hands the decision straight to your calendar, so the thing you chose actually shows up on the day instead of staying an idea.

It takes about three minutes.

You will find it at lynnhardin.com. Go decide. Then go make something.
