As a Latina, I always thought a leader was one that was an authoritarian, extremely intelligent and highly accomplished. I thought of a leader as an identity or position that was out of my reach. However, life has taught me that this is not true. We are all leaders in some capacity. I also thought that a leader was primarily a man. Religion taught me that as a female, I did not have God’s permission or approval to lead. This was also erroneous. Once I began to read the bible for myself and I learned the true definition of a leader, I realized that I was a leader.
