How might the church be more political?

  • They could identify their message as a gospel heralding another king.
  • They could identify with a kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, that does not fly the same flag as the local post office.
  • They could see themselves as ambassadors or representatives of that other kingdom -- full-time! Recognize everything they do reflects on their true homeland. If they approach earthly politics in a way that reflects the kingdom of heaven, then it becomes larger and more significant than candidates, policies, and parties.
  • They could be alert for differences in values and the ways of operating between the kingdom of heaven and the kingdoms of this year. One is poor in spirit, and the other is proud. One is meek, one is powerful. And so it goes.
