We are joined this week by Alex Seligsohn (Comedian, writer at Queercoded.com) to talk about Sex and the City 2, how the movie doesn't reach any of the heights of the franchise, why you can't or shouldn't do a lot of it in 2021, and how to avoid these issues in the upcoming new series. 

Marian Yesufu (Comedian) joins us this week for The Craft!  A movie that takes its spells and magic from another culture, without addressing any of those implications, makes light of some mental health issues, and has some mixed messaging.  The movie is still considered a cult classic by many and important to the horror and teen genre for breaking down barriers and changing up tropes.  But does the movie hold up today?  Can you still do that?

Michele Baci (Therapy Roulette Podcast) joins us for Legally Blonde!  A comedy that was very important to woman and comedies, and led a huge box office in 2001.  But in 2020 we go back and look at some of the problematic issues in the movie, discuss whether it did enough for some of the topics and themes it covers and our hopes for what the third movie might be like.

Shaun Rosado joins us this week to look back on Sixteen Candles, a movie that changed how we viewed teen, high school comedies and furthered the genre ahead leading to things like Booksmart and even Spider-Man Homecoming.  However, our views on the movie have changed as we notice that a movie celebrated for telling "normal" teen stories, treats any ethnic character like a stereotypical cartoon, normalizes date rape and positions it as a way for girls to realize how good a boy is. 

David Crownson (Harriet Tubman: Demon Slayer) joins us to discuss Good Will Hunting, the hit movie of the 90s that brought Boston as a set piece and genre to the forefront of filmmaking, but now we wonder if the attitude of the police works in 2021, if the language they use for woman and minorities still has a place in "charming" movies, and a predatory teacher who seemingly is chasing down every student he has.  Can you still do this movie in 2021?

Holly Anabel Brown (LA Based Stand Up Comedian, Well Actually Podcast) joins Blake and Anastasia as they travel back to somewhat real and somewhat fictional Chicago IL in the late 90s to see if Never Been Kissed still holds up or has become something you could no longer accomplish.  Through the news ignoring a story of a teacher being into the student.  Two characters also prowling for underage high school students, and the ever changing concept of being cool, its hard to say.... But one thing is for sure, the movie does reward everyones bad behavior.

We are joined by Harley Salbacka (Fake Nerd Girls Podcast) to discuss Beautiful Girls, a movie that has not aged very well past 1996 for showcasing attraction to a 13 year old girl, refusing to let characters grow, sticking us in rooms with men fetishizing woman and cheating with have zero consequences, and how you could improve the movie in 2021.

In 1986 Johnny Five stole audiences hearts in Short Circuit, and in 2021 we resurrect him to see if how his movies works under a modern lens.  Sabra May (Performer, Voice Over Actress, Cyberpunk 2077) joins us to discuss the 80s movie and how it blatantly has brown face, pours in some sexism, and even belittles the good state of Oregon.  We also discuss future proofing a movie and how this technology fairs against the technologies of today.  Share the show, leave us a review!

A Christmas movie unlike any other!  This week we are joined by Zeyne to discuss Jingle All the Way, a movie you could never make anymore, as it depicts, bombs, treatment of people, harassment, the punching of a reindeer, and the darker side of Christmas.  This movie deals with consumerism more than any other movie, and we still think its pretty funny.  Join us as we look back on this....classic?

Matt Acevedo (Mass Effect Adventum, The Hit Points Podcast, The Ultimate Fictional Character Podcast) to discuss The Santa Clause, a movie that almost plays more like a dark adult comedy than a fun family time for the holidays.  We discuss some issues the movie brings up, how well it does representing divorce, and what elements of it a studio probably wouldn't let you get away with today.
