Ron Swallow (The Greatest Pod, Reboot It, Comedian!) joins the gang as we start the Holiday season by looking back classic holiday movies and see what they were trying to teach us.  We start off with Rudolph, a story about how being different is perfectly fine, as long as what you are doing is useful.  We discuss why this movie and story has been around for decades, how to age it up a bit, and some of the baffling behaviors of these North Pole characters.

E-Man from E-Man's Movie Reviews joins us to look back at Tropic Thunder, a comedy that took some pretty big risks back in 2008.  We examine the choices actors make, and how this movie takes a satirical approach to it, but the dangers in rewarding that behavior.  How the movie takes huge strides to showcase one group of people and then is detrimental to others, and the fact that while the movie is still funny, it like many other comedies, needs another edit or two.

Jamie Jirak (comicbook.com) joins us to discuss American Beauty, a movie with layered themes about conformity, sexuality, and the suburbs.  We discuss our first experience with the movie and what things hit us a little harder in our adult lives, and a conversation about separating art from the artist.

Our three hosts, Blake, Anastasia, and Terrence circle up before Halloween to discuss their favorite three horror movies, how they affected them as kids, what they think now and what made these classics stand the test of time.

This week we discuss The Faculty with Matt Konopka.  A movie that was praised for how it handled cliques, and high school in general now showcases how conforming is more important that having an identity, some subtle bullying that never has any comeuppance, and complete and total lack of diversity.  

This week we tackle the 1999 cult class Fight Club.  Ed Greet (Reboot It!) joins us to discuss the movies themes of toxic masculinity, learning the wrong lessons from characters we are supposed to hate, telling a story where having a woman will fix everything, and how its actually okay to just work at a desk and have insurance despite what Hollywood and this movie in particular would make you think.  

Jay Washington joins Blake, Anastasia and Terrence this week to go over a classic John Hughes movie, Weird Science, where two kids are able to create the perfect woman out of sheer pluck and moxie.  We discuss the movies themes, if you could pull off this movie on concept alone today, the jive accent, and the ideas behind creating a person.  

This week we are joined by Laura Sirikul (writer) to discuss The Karate Kid, a classic that exploded marital arts culture in America, and has some of the most memorable songs and quotes.  But, is this the best representation of Asians or Asian culture?  Could some of the portrayals in the movie have been detrimental to some?  Is the martial arts EVENT ACCURATE?  We discuss this and more.

One of Blake's favorite movies is Back to the Future, from the friendship with Doc and Marty, to the ideas of being able to change your fate, that nothing is permanent and you can always get back on the right track.  So its about time that we dig into it with Jenna Busch (Histerical podcast, Cocktails with Stan, the chapter author of Psych Geeks books).  Jenna looks back at the movie on its 35th anniversary, now looking at the 80s the same way the movie looked at the 50s, and talks with us the issues with voyeurism, using assault as a heroic plan to bring a mother and father together, the perverted parents of Marty McFly, and overall tendencies of using women as something to be earned.

Welcome to our first episode!  In this podcast we go back through classic movies and figure out why they can't do it anymore!  There might some problematic or questionable things in some of our favorite movies.  All while making you think and laugh!  Each week we will have a unique guest with a classic movie they feel can't be done anymore.
