You Have Been Called

Listen Later

https://youtu.be/N3YTiW-AhM8

Intro story- when I was called

I knew what the Lord wanted of me

I couldn’t explain why I knew I just did

The call on my life was evident and I could feel it in my spirit

I don’t know if it was fear

Or selfishness maybe

I wanted to be in control of my life

So I rebelled against the word the Lord had given me

I lived a life of complete disobedience to the Lord

I kept running away, far away

I became worse than I had previously been

Even though I tried whatever I could to run

I knew ultimately that I should submit to God and follow the call He placed on me

It took years, I think about 12 years later I finally submitted to His will and not my own

Romans 11:25-36

25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own [a]opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be [b]saved, as it is written:

“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;27 For this is My covenant with them,When I take away their sins.”

28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31 even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has [c]committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.

33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord?Or who has become His counselor?”35 “Or who has first given to HimAnd it shall be repaid to him?”

36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

We are wrapping up chapter 11

The main verse I will be focusing on is verse 29

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

But before I get into that I want to give biblical context to what paul was speaking about

Im going to give a quick recap of chapters 9-11 because they all tie together to give the overall them of these 3 chapters

Paul talked about Israel’s rejection of Christ and Gods purpose

Israel’s rejection and Gods justice, Paul discussed the present condition of Israel and that they were in desperate need of the Gospel

Only to have Israel reject the gospel and the Messiah they had all been waiting on

But there is still hope because Israels rejection is not total and it is not final

God is coming back for His remnant

Which brings us to where we are now

Paul is speaking to jews and gentiles

Romans 11:25-28

25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own [a]opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
