My name is Sam.
This is Bob.
Bob is my dog.
He’s my BFF (Best Furry Friend).

Bob has his own bed, but he prefers mine.
You need a lot of room to roll over when you have a sticky-out tail.
Sometimes Bob likes breakfast in bed.
Sneaking his bowl upstairs can be tricky!

Bob loves to ride the bus to school with me.
I prefer the front seats, but he likes to sit right at the back, which is probably best because… our driver is NOT a dog lover. Aachooo!

My teacher Miss Davies is not crazy about dogs either.
She didn’t like it on “Bring Your Pet to School Day” when Bob… joined in circle time…
…painted up a storm… …or dug in the sandbox. (We almost went to Australia.)

Lots of other people love Bob though.
My friend Nell thinks Bob is much more interesting than her goldfish.
(Nigel just hides behind his pretend cave all day and does really long poops.)

And my baby sister stops crying whenever Bob chases his tail.
Mr. Miller next door says Bob has cute ears and always saves him a bit of sausage.

Bob has lots of other talents too.
He can fetch the paper.
He can find something that has been missing for a really long time…
… and he’s a great ball catcher.
(Unless there’s a squirrel nearby!)

Bob’s favorite time of the day is lunchtime.
Mom says eating vegetables is making me big and strong, but I HATE carrot sticks!
Luckily, Bob is not a fussy eater.

Whenever Mom calls for dinner, Bob is always first to the table.
Dad says that’s because “Four paws are faster than two feet – and there might be cake!”

Bob goes EVERYWHERE with me.
Sometimes we trek deep into the jungle to discover new wildlife.
Bob is good at discovering creatures, but not so good at picking them up.

Sometimes we hide out in our super spy lair. 
Except for Bob’s tail, we are completely undercover.

Sometimes we shoot into outer space.
I’m the rocket pilot.
Bob is the hairy navigator.

Whenever it rains, Bob finds the best muddy puddles!
But that’s okay because he always takes a bath before bed.
He likes to make bubble hats and leave wet paw trails.
We need a lot of towels.

Bob always chooses the same book for our bedtime story.
It’s about a boy and a dog who are brave and daring and have lots of adventures.
It’s the best!
(Although it always seems to be my turn to do the reading, while Bob mostly likes looking at the pictures.)

Nighttime can be tricky. I know I snore, but the drooly patch on the pillow… 
That’s definitely because of Bob.
I should make Bob sleep in his own bed, but he sometimes gets scared of the dark.
It’s fine if my two night-lights, flashlight, and dinosaur lamp are on.

Because of this and the needing-more-room-for-the-tail, he always stays right here.
Goodnight, Bob. Sleep tight.
