There will be times when we fight resolutely against sin and yet feel no relief or freedom from its oppression. We may even feel as if ground is being relentlessly lost – that the harder we fight, the further back we are driven. Such feelings are not a reason to despair. We need to remember the inscrutability of God’s purposes as we fight sin.
