The book of Revelation is for many people one of the final unexplored mysteries of the Bible, while for others, it evokes lurid pictures of apocalyptic end-times disaster movies. None of this is very enlightening to people who seriously just want to understand what this extraordinary book is talking about.

In this video we take a look at the letter to the church in Thyatira, which contains the harshest rebuke so far of any of the letters in Revelation 2-3.

Here's an outline of the chiastic structure of the letter itself. Note the "I Am" in the central element, which is also the central structural element of all seven letters to the churches:

A v18 J is the Ruler, the son of God
B v19 I know your works ... latter works
C v20-21 The sins of Jezebel
D v22-23a Judgment on Jezebel and her children
E v23b "I am he who searches mind and heart"
D v23c Judgment on all according to your works
C v24-25 The righteousness of those who don't follow Jezebel
B v26a keep Jesus works to the end
A v26b-29 The overcomers will rule
