Peter has reflected on the new life and new identity declared to us in the truths and the promises of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  This knowledge now compels us into a life of obedience and faith.  To live this life of obedience and faith Peter writes that we must set our hope in our future, reject the pull of our past, and model the Lord in our present.  We are called to be holy, to dare to be different because a hope filled life is a holy life.
