What’s it like to be a Black woman therapist in today’s time? Our guest, Casondra (Candi) Foster left a job after being told her call time was too long. Her response was, “Call time is too long? I’m a therapist.”
During BIPOC Mental Health Month, the Young Black MRS team unpacks what it’s like to be a Black female therapist in 2022. Plus Casondra is a Christian therapist, so there are levels to the conversations she brings to this episode of the podcast. Crushes, we all have them but have you married your crush?
In this episode, Morgane chats with Keda about having a secret crush on her now wife.
Morgane shakes her curls at quitters after seeing an opening act.
Morgane gushes about her Grammy party treats and chews on corn dogs in the What You Chewin’ segment.
Here are the key takeaways from the Main Event with Keda:
Keda is a graduate of Wilberforce University where she met and developed a crush on her now-wife. She admitted having a secret crush on her wife but never acted on it and the two remained friends until they decided to move forward as a couple after working together.
Keda’s coming out wasn’t too challenging. Her friends and family quickly accepted the couple because of how romantic her wife is towards Keda.
Just nine months after they started dating, Keda was engaged. They practiced Love University, a creative, university-themed framework to evaluate and strengthen their relationship, to solidify their relationship.
With Love University, they rate their communication skills, complete scenarios, or use an A-Z index of conversation starters to bond and track the progress of their relationship.
Currently Keda and her wife are married and planning their dream destination wedding for April 2023.

How far are you willing to go for love?
In this episode, Morgane chats with Jennifer about meeting her future husband in middle school. Though we all don’t experience marrying your prom date, Jennifer’s relationship wasn’t quite the 90s rom-com.
Morgane shakes her curls at the following milestones. Milestones tend to make you feel like you are behind. But those goals might just be someone else’s goals, not yours. Live your life the way you choose.
Here are the key takeaways from the Main Event with Jennifer:
Jennifer is born and raised in Kansas City and she reps Kansas City to the fullest. You can tell by the twos Kansas City sidebar at the top of the conversation.
Once we got into Jennifer’s love story, it could almost be taken straight from a movie. Jennifer’s future husband asked her to be his girlfriend in band class while the two were in middle school. The two finally get together after going to the prom together, and the rest was history.
Well sort of.
Long-distance became a leading character in this love story. Along with the sound of Skype calls, Jennifer kept missing as she was living her best life in Washington, DC for the first two years of college. Despite Howard's handsome, chocolate men, Jennifer knew she only wanted her future hubby and took a giant leap to show her commitment.
She transferred from her very prestigious HBCU to a local college just to be two hours away from her boyfriend. Those next to years were the toughest years of their relationship.
In marriage, Morgane and Jennifer both related on romanticizing marriages based on TV. As well as the true meaning of intimacy. Here’s a hint, it’s not sex.

Can you find love after divorce? In this episode, Morgane chats with Jessica of UnMUTE Your Mic about finding love again and dating with intention after divorce. Many believe that divorce is the end, but Jessica and I chat about finding a happy, healthy marriage even if the first marriage didn't work out.
Morgane shakes her curls at the feeling like you are behind in life. Morgane believes that it will happen for you when it’s your time to have the house, the job, the husband, or the baby.
Morgane chews, well reflects, on her Beet Ravioli dish during What You Chewin’. The ravioli filling was almond ricotta and the brown butter sauce also had a splash of lemon and dijon mustard.
Here are the key takeaways from the Main Event with Jessica Terry:
Jessica is a multi-hyphenate. She’s a teacher, a podcaster, an advocate, and of course a Young Black MRS. She met her now-husband at work. After a year of dating, she was engaged in September and married in November!
Because Jessica is a divorcee, she knew what she wanted in a partner. She knew that when her morals and values didn’t match it was time to end things. With her husband, Austin, she knew him initially as a friend which made it easier to quickly switch from friend to lover.
What's it like dating and getting married during a pandemic?
Dating during the pandemic meant so many park dates. Jessica and her spouse were both laid off from their jobs, allowing them to connect with each other more closely. The two were able to go to the park or work out with no distractions. Jessica felt as if she was on an intimate dating show.
The wedding moved quickly for a multitude of factors. The pandemic played a large role but also because the two wanted to move in together as both leases were up. Jessica's relative helped plan the wedding during the time most of her family was in town for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Dating with intention allowed Jessica to find her life partner.

Welcome to the season four premiere of Young Black MRS. In this episode, Morgane chats with Meshia of Dimensions of Succes about how finances affect your marriage in the Main Event.
Morgane shakes her curls at the idea of reels speaking to her. To put it more clearly, she chats about some concepts of some recent Instagram reels topics.
She chews on Greek Donuts with agave and pistachios during What You Chewin’.
Here are the key takeaways from the Main Event with Roymeshia (Meshia) Simmons
Meshia is a single mother, active member of the Air Force, and a recent divorcee. Her love story wasn’t a Cinderella story. Early on red flags flew but the two proceeded. After a traumatic health scare, the two grew much closer.
But unfortunately, after marital counseling, Meshia knew it was time to end things. Her faith was shaken during the divorce process but she is optimistic that there is love after divorce. Even though there might still be “pee” in the dating pool.
