In this episode, I explore the latest issue of Dyslexia Scotland’s Spring Magazine and the powerful work being done to amplify the voices of young change makers across Scotland.
We look at Dyslexia Scotland’s 2026 manifesto and its three urgent priorities, and what these mean for children and young people navigating education today.
A big part of the conversation focuses on the reality facing schools. Scotland’s Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) framework is designed to ensure every young person is safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible and included. But without meaningful training in dyslexia and neurodiversity for teachers, delivering this vision consistently can be incredibly challenging.
In this episode I reflect on:• What the Spring Magazine is highlighting about dyslexia and education in Scotland• The Young Change Makers movement and why young voices matter in shaping education• The three urgent priorities in Dyslexia Scotland’s 2026 manifesto• Why teacher training and understanding neurodiversity are essential for true inclusion• What this means for learners, families, and the future of Scottish education
This conversation is for parents, educators, and anyone who cares about creating education systems where different ways of thinking are understood and supported.
If we want young people to thrive, we need learning environments that recognise strengths, remove barriers, and value neurodiversity.
✨ Let’s keep the conversation going.
