New research shows young New Zealanders still rely on their parents for financial advice, even when they're adults.
Westpac and Massey University's longitudinal study looks at young people's financial attitudes and behaviours.
It reveals nearly half of 23-28 year old participants had learned everything or almost everything from their parents - despite many having doubts about their advice.
Report author Dr Pushpa Wood says it's not surprising people turn to parents for that information.
"Mum and dad are the first people we start observing when it comes to money or anything else."
The research also shows young Kiwis think "they'll be better off than their parents when it comes to retirement."
