We don't have to wait until we're running on empty to fill back up. Your animal(s), both those here with you physically and those in spirit, can show you where to find a good drink of energy, and share it with you. In this one, your animal drinks first. Then they invite you to join them.
Go to a quiet place where you can relax your body and mind. Close your eyes and picture a mountain stream on a warm day, the water cold and clear. Let one of your animals come to the stream and drink. Watch them. How do they look once they've had their fill?
Then let them invite you to drink too. Cup your hands, bring the water up, and take a sip. Notice where it goes in your body, and whether it stays. Do you feel fuller, lighter, more awake? Just take note of it.
If you'd like, think of the other animals you've loved, now and in the past. Picture them as pages in an album. You may find some blank pages as well. Those are for the animals still to come.
When you're ready, thank your animal and tell them you'll be back. Open your eyes. Then go get a real glass of water and drink it here in the physical world. It's a small way to bring the recharge back with you.
Come back to the stream often. As Star would say, you don't need to wait until you're almost empty. It's better to top off.
Thank you for continuing this journey with us. Try it yourself, and listen to the guided meditation.
A quiet place. An animal you love. One small thing they want you to see.
This is a twelve minute guided meditation, and it is the companion piece to Tea Party for the Soul, the third post in the series Melanie Hartt and I are writing. That post closes with something to go and try. This is that same thing, with a voice to follow, so you do not have to hold the steps in your head while you do them.
You will be taken somewhere comfortable first. A clearing, or a forest, somewhere with a little water running through it. Then you call in one animal. They may be here with you physically or they may be in spirit, and it makes no difference, because they are with you either way. You reach out a hand and they come into it.
Then you ask them to show you something. Something they want you to see, to know. It may arrive as something you hear, or see, or even smell, or simply as an idea that turns up. If nothing comes, that is fine, and there is a place in the meditation for that too.
At the end you are asked to write down what you were given. That matters more than it sounds like it does, and the post explains why.

Before you begin. Find somewhere you will not be interrupted. Lie down if you can, or sit comfortably with your feet flat on the ground. Headphones are lovely but not required. The background sound is deliberately quiet, so that it stays underneath and does not pull at you.
Please do not listen while driving.
