  1. Pitfall #1 – Treating training like an event – not an ongoing program.   Training is not somethng you did – it is something you do.
    • CEU’s
    • You have Meetings where you come together for the purpose of Training!
    • MEETINGS are essential.  CLASSROOM TIME
    •  

      2. #2 – Not having a training program.

      Elements of a Training Program:

       

      • A start date and end date
      • A Trainer
      • A Standard. A recipe.
      • A desired outcome
      • Information.  Verbal and Written
      • Forms
      • Training Aids
      •  

        3. #3 – not having a Trainer – a train the trainer program.

        • NOT JUST trained in the Work – BUT … trained in how to train.
        • Don’t assume your top employee is a good trainer.
        • Proficeincy in Doing the Works does not equal proficincy in Teaching the work
        • How to know?
          • Ask the trainee
          • You have a STANDARD – the manual
          • 4. #4 – not Inspecting what you expect – What you Tolerate You Encourage

            • Training Requires Follow Up
            • Follow Up MANY TIME …SHOWING UP.  Go to the place where the work is happening…
            • Genchi genbutsu – The Japanese word for – Show up and Go see.  (pronounced: JEN-CHI JEN-BUTSU)
