Social media is still used for “social” purposes — content that keeps peer groups connected through status updates.  These snapshots give people a peak into each others’ lives.  And that’s all well and good.

If you intend to use the social platforms for content marketing however, you have to shift away from broadcasting personal updates to content that is relevant to a much larger group of people.

Provide value in your content, the kind of value that will attract new audiences as well as keep your existing audience engaged.  Stop talking about yourself because that’s only relevant and interesting to a small select group of people. 

So broaden your content focus.  Provide value and service and you’re sure to be much more effective with your content strategy.
