“The Circadian Rhythm” ..finish up on Vitamin D

A circadian rhythm is the body’s 24-hour internal clock that regulates cycles of alertness and sleepiness, and is influenced by light and dark. This natural cycle controls physical, mental, and behavioral changes, including sleep patterns, hormone release (like melatonin and cortisol), body temperature, and appetite. A healthy circadian rhythm is crucial for overall health and can be disrupted by factors like inconsistent sleep schedules, jet lag, and exposure to artificial light at night.

What it is

A near-24-hour cycle that regulates the body’s sleep-wake pattern and other biological processes.  It is also known as the “body’s clock”.  Nearly every tissue and organ has its own circadian rhythm, but they are all tuned to the daily cycle of day and night.  What influences it Light and dark: Sunlight is the strongest cue for setting the body’s internal clock. Exposure to bright light in the morning helps you wake up, while darkness signals the release of melatonin, which promotes sleep.  Other factors: Food intake, stress, physical activity, social environment, and temperature also play a role.  Why it’s important

Regulates sleep: It controls when you feel sleepy and when you feel alert, which is vital for a healthy sleep-wake cycle.  Prepares the body: It helps the body prepare for expected changes, such as the time for activity or sleep, and the availability of food.  Supports overall health: A healthy rhythm is associated with proper metabolism, and disruptions can be linked to health problems like sleep disorders, obesity, and diabete
