Hailing from Switzerland, cognitive scientist and sometime war photographer Christoph D. Dahl has been studying the connections between animal and human behavior for over two decades. Now at the Taipei Medical University Graduate Institute of Mind, Brain and Consciousness, Dahl’s research into sensation, perception, and consciousness, together with his work developing computational and machine learning tools, is helping build a better understanding of consciousness across species ranging from spiders to humans.

Working under the umbrella of TMU’s Office of Global Engagement, the OGE Squad comprises students from Taiwan and around the world. After earning a degree in dental surgery at Taipei Medical University, Taiwan native Jeff Wang went on to further his studies in periodontology at Harvard and the University of Michigan. Now Prof. Wang has brought his expertise back to TMU, where he directs the TMUH Division of Periodontics Hospital and teaches at the TMU School of Dentistry.

Clare Huang Fu is an associate professor, cancer researcher, at Taipei Medical University’s Graduate Institute of Cancer Biology and Drug Discovery and Vice Dean of International Affairs at College of Medical Science and Technology. She also runs a drug discovery platform at ATP BioPharm, where she uses AI to speed the design and commercialization of novel cancers treatments, all while balancing the responsibilities of being a mother.

Educator, communicator, ambassador. From St. Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan, Francis became a teacher at age 17, studied journalism and mass communication in Ming Chuan University, and graduated with a degree in global health and development from Taipei Medical University. He has been active with the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party since his teens, and recently served as leader of the party’s youth arm, Communications Director, and Young Labour President. Mr. Francis has now returned to Taiwan as ambassador.

Before coming to Taiwan, Malaysian Nigel Chew worked in financial investments and marketing for a major chip manufacturer. After earning a PhD in biomaterials and tissue engineering he cofounded MTAMTech, where he leads R&D, raises capital, and leads promotion as General Manager.
Vincent Chen is part of MTAMTech’s R&D and Engineering teams developing products from basic research. He holds a PhD from TMU, where he studied HPO and stem cell therapy under WHO consultant Dr. Thierry Burnouf.

Originally from Scotland, now based at Taipei Medical University’s Graduate Institute of Brain Mind and Consciousness Dr. Niall Duncan is actively engaged in building a scientific community dedicated to improving research practices. He holds degrees in pharmacology, philosophy, and neuroscience, and is an active member of ReproducibiliTea, an international network of students and researchers interested in creating open and reproducible research.
