  • Marcus Whitney: Your Move, The Manifesto

    Marcus Whitney taught himself to code while he was waiting tables. He calls that a move, and it was the first of many he made without being able to see where they would lead.


    He left a safe career to start a company with no safety net. He walked into a jiu-jitsu gym in his 40s and got submitted by everybody for a whole year, then became a Masters world champion. He expanded his family to another country because the life he wanted demanded it. Behind each step is his father, who made move after move his entire life, from enlisting in the army at 17 to a career in New York City jails to a second career in the postal service. Each of those was a move into the unknown, and together they are the evidence Marcus carries with him. For Marcus, that means waiting is not an option.
