Synopsis:
Emily starts with sharing that she studied Maths and picked up some skills which were useful in cybersecurity roles realising when looking back retrospectively. She wasn't aware of the transferable skills at the time but some of the skills she learnt during initial call centre role such as analytical skills, treating everyone with respect and communication. Next, Emily provides valuable tips for a job seeker on landing interviews and excelling in hiring the process.
Emily highlights the role of mentor to help cybersecurity aspirants to connect the dots between their transferable skills and how they can add value to the cybersecurity role(s). Lastly, Emily covers how important it is to hire based on the attitude and soft skills; not entirely based on technical skills. As tech skills can be taught along the way as well however the personality and attitude go a long way.
