About Dean Weitenhagen After a good life - getting married, raising two children, having success in two careers, I found myself divorced and longing for the "something more". I met Patsy and we fell in love. We lived a fantastic life together - travelling the world, relishing our friends and families.Tragedy struck when Patsy experienced a debilitating brain stroke. Given no chance for a normal life again by our neurologist, we travelled to China to put our hope in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Three months later, Patsy walked out with the use of her afflicted arm and leg. We triumphantly returned to our Midwest home.Four months later while "snow birding" in Arizona, Patsy's childhood home, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia - a fatal cancer. Two months of hospitalization and chemotherapy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota found my cancer gone. But, the ultimate cure - one that could lead me to a longer life - a stem cell transplant, was unavailable.Undeterred, we both treated at a well-known naturopathic physician in Idaho. Our lives seemed to have returned to the blissful state we had enjoyed before the trip to China. However, my cancer returned, and I spent the first months of that year at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. Following the required chemotherapy protocol, my cancer was again eliminated. However, this time I had three potential life-saving stem cell donors around the world.A young man in Ohio was selected and within a few days his life-giving stem cells were flowing into my body. Coming back from a severe loss of weight and strength, I was determined to regain the life with Patsy that had been so fulfilling and satisfying. My four-month long stay in the hospital had given me ample time to reflect back on my life: How had I lived? Whose expectations had I tried to meet? What would I wish I had done differently? Many questions for the sixty-five yeas I had lived up to that point. But the one question I grappled with most was "why are we here"? What's the true purpose of our lives?I had to reach back years to the foundation my parents had founded for me to find the answer. When I finally came to my conclusion to the question, the enthusiasm I met each day with was higher than I could have ever imagined. So many friends, having witnessed Patsy's and my journey, encouraged me to write a book. So, I did. But as my words spilled out on the pages, the significance of our struggles took second place to the door of understanding that was able to walk through.https://www.deanweitenhagen.com/If you are looking for a Personal Coach contact Karen at #YESICAN coaching with Karen[email protected]440 526 1530
