We don't just fight our own demons and insecurities, we fight everybody else's too! You can only control your actions and thoughts but being aware that others are projecting their own insecurities, issues on you is HUGE! It will save you so much pain and agony just knowing it's not personal when you encounter a negative comment, judgment, label aimed at you. It's not against you, it's against themselves.
