I can't wrap my head around politicians who appropriately want to stop people from getting SNAP benefits off the backs of others, yet refuse to take the constitutional position that David Crockett noted in 1830 in his "Not Yours to Give" speech. In other words, even Trump (and many of his self-professed "conservatives") don't speak up against the immoral, fake-charity, unconstitutional SNAP program in its entirety. !

This Dem position is correct. On multiple anti-constitution vectors, the FBI action here is one of the most egregious breaches of the US Constitution since Lincoln lifted the writ of Habeas and arrested the Mayor of Baltimore and other politicians in Maryland. This Breitbart piece spells out just one facet of the problem. The others include not only the lack of federal jurisdiction over immigration, but the requirement in Article 4 Section 4 that the state legislature or governor must invite federal militia help before the feds can enter a state during a time of non-war. The "Alien Enemies Act" is overruled by the Constitution, and very few "conservatives" are acknowledging this fact here.

One would hope that a supposedly "conservative" publication would: A. Not applaud the seizure of $15 billion from consumers in just a few weeks, and, B. Not fall into the leftist habit (or use the leftist tactic) of calling this theft "revenue". This is taxation, on a MASSIVE scale, and that number represents opportunities consumers should have had to send their money where they wanted it to go. Trump's tariff terrorism is insane, utterly bereft of any economic grounding, and utterly immoral. It's done voluntarily, by PEOPLE, and it always BALANCES, because the people here buying foreign goods/services have as their foreign counterparts buyers of US dollars for the goods/services they offer. That capital comes back to the US in the form of investments into existing businesses or new ventures, which is what some might see as a "surplus in investment capital". This runs through the info, which would be great for any student in an early economics class, and REALLY great for politician and reporters to read!

This is a good move, but still assumes central planning in the federal control of the region and its potential assets. It also folks into Trump's slow-move approach to lifting sanctions against Russian energy imports. Trump seems to be desirous of blocking foreign inputs while he tries to open the spigot for greater US production. The problem is that this still assumes government can impose "sanctions" or block foreign imports, rather than just apply tariffs (which also is a bad idea) and assumes that during the interim American's should just suffer higher than necessary prices while US output slowly increases. An intellectually honest politician would admit this, one would hope!

Trump is calling for US ships to travel through the Panama Canal FREE OF CHARGE. What would be cool is to remove all state influences and controls, allow private initiative to handle it. But, of course, the origin of the canal is tied to US meddling and politically-derived funds. Here is the new story on it and Trump's idea.

In December 2024, Trump threatened to retake the Panama Canal if Panama continued to rip the U.S. off, and referenced how U.S. vessels were being charged “exorbitant” fees to travel through the canal.. Trump described the Panama Canal as being a “vital national asset” for the U.S. and added that “a secure Panama Canal is crucial for U.S. Commerce.”

In order to build the canal, the United States felt that it had to purchase the right to do so from the bankrupt French-owned company that had failed in its attempt to dig the canal. Teddy Roosevelt explained that he acted out of indignation at the Colombian government’s insisting on a $10-million “holdup” of American taxpayers for the right to build a canal in Panama. Actually, the US government was perfectly willing to pay $40 million to the French Panama Canal Company. The $10 million to Colombia would have come, not from the taxpayers, but out of the $40 million cut going to the French company.
Why, then, did Teddy Roosevelt swing the big stick and foment a phony revolution in Colombia, in order to save $10 million for the coffers of a bankrupt French-owned company? The answer, which came out years later, is that the “French” company was French no longer; its shares had been secretly bought up shortly before by syndicate of Wall Street bankers, headed by J.P. Morgan and Company. The syndicate hired the eminent Wall Street lawyer, William Nelson Cromwell, to get the American money, and it was Cromwell, sitting in the White House itself, who wrote TR’s dispatches and orders and engineered the entire operation. After the syndicate got the $40 million, they were able to sell their shares to the US government for twice what they had paid.
Moreover, one of the syndicate members was none other than Teddy Roosevelt’s brother-in-law, Douglas E. Robinson. Not only did Robinson benefit as a syndicate member, but most of the $40 million from the US taxpayers was funneled by Cromwell into the New York real estate firm of the same Douglas Robinson."

I got to discuss this on Liberty Conspiracy the other night. In the X link, you can see Steve Bannon and DC Draino (aka Rogan O'Handley) both display a shocking and sad ignorance of the US Constitution. Here's the link.
And here is Draino's encapsulating statement in that link (the video of them is in there, and it contains a lot more, including BOTH of them making this stunning and fundamental error about the Constitution). Here is what he said, and remember, he's a lawyer: "Enough is enough - it’s time for President Trump to consider suspending the writ of Habeas Corpus to deport the millions of illegal aliens who invaded our country It’s in the Constitution - Article 1, Section 9 It’s allowed when there is an invasion FDR used it Lincoln used it Ulysses S. Grant used it And all their faces ended up on our national currency I hope Trump suspends habeas to repel this historic invasion - we’re more than ready to defend him and take our country back"
That's right. ARTICLE ONE. NOT ARTICLE TWO, Mr. Draino.
Here is my response (and I didn't even dig into the 2008 Boumedien SCOTUS decision) on X:
"Mr. Draino might want to note that Article One pertains to the legislative branch, not the executive branch. Mr. Bannon might want to bring that up sometime, as well. And both of them can tell me where the word "immigration" appears in the federal Constitution. It doesn't. It's supposed to be a state purview, as Jefferson and Madison both noted in the Kentucky Resolutions and VA Resolves. Additionally, the "Alien Enemies Act" is ambiguous on it's second half, and the entire "Act" runs contrary to Article 4, Sec 4, which only allows federal troops in non-wartime to enter states upon the request of the state legislature or governor if the legislature is out of session. Due process is required for all apprehension and jailing people suspected of criminal activity. Since there is no constitutional provision allowing federal control over immigration, and it wasn't until the SCOTUS invented this "power" in their 1875 Chy Lung v Freeman decision, there is no real criminal activity in foreigners being here contrary to federal statute. Those federal immigration statutes are patently unconstitutional. If either of these men would like to discuss it, I would be pleased to chat with them in an amiable conversation to go through the scholarship on it."
Here is the 2008 Boumediene decision, which came as a response to the flagrantly unconstitutional "Military Commissions Act" in which Congress tried to cede its enumerated power over Habeas to the Exec Branch to selectively lift the writ, and they passed another insult, the "Detainee Treatment Act" just prior to the MC Act. Incredible lawlessness back then, and they want to repeat it and make it worse, now! What the heck?!

Trump's tariff terrorism is insane, utterly bereft of any economic grounding, and utterly immoral. This is a good move, but still assumes central planning in the federal control of the region and its potential assets. It also folks into Trump's slow-move approach to lifting sanctions against Russian energy imports. Trump seems to be desirous of blocking foreign inputs while he tries to open the spigot for greater US production. The problem is that this still assumes government can impose "sanctions" or block foreign imports, rather than just apply tariffs (which also is a bad idea) and assumes that during the interim American's should just suffer higher than necessary prices while US output slowly increases. An intellectually honest politician would admit this, one would hope!

Trump is calling for US ships to travel through the Panama Canal FREE OF CHARGE. What would be cool is to remove all state influences and controls, allow private initiative to handle it. Actually, the US government was perfectly willing to pay $40 million to the French Panama Canal Company. The $10 million to Colombia would have come, not from the taxpayers, but out of the $40 million cut going to the French company.
Why, then, did Teddy Roosevelt swing the big stick and foment a phony revolution in Colombia, in order to save $10 million for the coffers of a bankrupt French-owned company? The answer, which came out years later, is that the “French” company was French no longer; its shares had been secretly bought up shortly before by syndicate of Wall Street bankers, headed by J.P. Morgan and Company. The syndicate hired the eminent Wall Street lawyer, William Nelson Cromwell, to get the American money, and it was Cromwell, sitting in the White House itself, who wrote TR’s dispatches and orders and engineered the entire operation. After the syndicate got the $40 million, they were able to sell their shares to the US government for twice what they had paid.
Moreover, one of the syndicate members was none other than Teddy Roosevelt’s brother-in-law, Douglas E. Robinson. Not only did Robinson benefit as a syndicate member, but most of the $40 million from the US taxpayers was funneled by Cromwell into the New York real estate firm of the same Douglas Robinson."

I got to discuss this on Liberty Conspiracy the other night. In the X link, you can see Steve Bannon and DC Draino (aka Rogan O'Handley) both display a shocking and sad ignorance of the US Constitution. Here's the link.
And here is Draino's encapsulating statement in that link (the video of them is in there, and it contains a lot more, including BOTH of them making this stunning and fundamental error about the Constitution). Here is what he said, and remember, he's a lawyer: "Enough is enough - it’s time for President Trump to consider suspending the writ of Habeas Corpus to deport the millions of illegal aliens who invaded our country It’s in the Constitution - Article 1, Section 9 It’s allowed when there is an invasion FDR used it Lincoln used it Ulysses S. Grant used it And all their faces ended up on our national currency I hope Trump suspends habeas to repel this historic invasion - we’re more than ready to defend him and take our country back"
That's right. ARTICLE ONE. NOT ARTICLE TWO, Mr. Draino.
Here is my response (and I didn't even dig into the 2008 Boumedien SCOTUS decision) on X:
"Mr. Draino might want to note that Article One pertains to the legislative branch, not the executive branch. Mr. Bannon might want to bring that up sometime, as well. And both of them can tell me where the word "immigration" appears in the federal Constitution. It doesn't. It's supposed to be a state purview, as Jefferson and Madison both noted in the Kentucky Resolutions and VA Resolves. Additionally, the "Alien Enemies Act" is ambiguous on it's second half, and the entire "Act" runs contrary to Article 4, Sec 4, which only allows federal troops in non-wartime to enter states upon the request of the state legislature or governor if the legislature is out of session. Due process is required for all apprehension and jailing people suspected of criminal activity. Since there is no constitutional provision allowing federal control over immigration, and it wasn't until the SCOTUS invented this "power" in their 1875 Chy Lung v Freeman decision, there is no real criminal activity in foreigners being here contrary to federal statute. Those federal immigration statutes are patently unconstitutional. If either of these men would like to discuss it, I would be pleased to chat with them in an amiable conversation to go through the scholarship on it."
Here is the 2008 Boumediene decision, which came as a response to the flagrantly unconstitutional "Military Commissions Act" in which Congress tried to cede its enumerated power over Habeas to the Exec Branch to selectively lift the writ, and they passed another insult, the "Detainee Treatment Act" just prior to the MC Act. Incredible lawlessness back then, and they want to repeat it and make it worse, now! What the heck?!
