Greetings, fellow Conspirators!
One day, each year, history and prophecy meet to place the physical world in proper perspective. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ allowed contemporaries and those who live after to see that physics, by definition, cannot come from the physical world — the physical world must arise from something meta-physical. And Christ’s miracles, His fulfillment of prophecy, told all who hear and see that He is the man-embodiment of the Creator.
Let’s explore some breaking news today, and then look at some special items, for Easter. PEACE - FOR EASTER - A SHORT SET OF THOUGHTSThe verified eye-witness accounts of Jesus’s crucifixion and resurrection stand at the heart of Christian testimony, recorded in the four Gospels and corroborated by early church writings. Matthew and John, both apostles present at key events, describe the crucifixion in vivid detail: Jesus was scourged, nailed to a Roman cross at Golgotha, and died after six hours under Pontius Pilate around AD 30. The women—including Mary Magdalene—and the beloved disciple stood near the cross (John 19:25-27). Roman soldiers confirmed death by piercing His side, releasing blood and water (John 19:34). These events precisely fulfilled Old Testament prophecies. Psalm 22:16-18 foretold pierced hands and feet and divided garments; Isaiah 53:5-9 described the suffering servant “pierced for our transgressions” who would be “cut off from the land of the living.”
Three days later, the resurrection accounts multiply. The same women found the tomb empty and encountered the risen Jesus (Matthew 28; John 20). He appeared to Peter, to the Emmaus disciples, to the Eleven, and—according to Paul’s early creed in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8—to more than five hundred people at once, most still alive when Paul wrote around AD 55. Thomas touched the wounds and believed. These appearances fulfilled further prophecy: Psalm 16:10 promised the Holy One would not “see decay,” and Hosea 6:2 spoke of restoration “on the third day.”
Together, the eye-witness testimonies and their alignment with centuries-old prophecies convinced the earliest believers that Jesus was the promised Messiah whose death atoned for sin and whose resurrection conquered death.
In Cold-Case Christianity, former atheist and cold-case homicide detective J. Warner Wallace applies his investigative expertise to examine the claims of the New Testament, particularly the Gospels. Wallace teaches readers ten essential principles of detective work—such as avoiding presuppositions like philosophical naturalism, thinking circumstantially, evaluating eyewitness reliability, and distinguishing possible from reasonable explanations—before applying them to the evidence.He demonstrates that the Gospels function as credible eyewitness accounts, using forensic statement analysis, early dating of the texts, and the chain of custody of the manuscripts. Wallace builds a compelling circumstantial case for the historicity of Jesus, His crucifixion, and especially His resurrection, showing that alternative explanations (theft of the body, hallucinations, or legend) fail under rigorous scrutiny. Ultimately, the book offers extra dimensions to the Christian faith, equipping believers and skeptics alike to investigate the truth claims of Christianity like a cold-case detective. With engaging real-life crime stories and clear reasoning, Wallace concludes that the resurrection provides the most reasonable explanation for the available evidence.
