We begin with a couple quick indicators of statist trouble and hypocrisy.
First, the attitude of VP JD Vance when it comes to assassinating people, people on a boat, far away from the US. Rhetorical tools like the ever-malleable "war on terror" and "war on drugs" cannot hide the fact that the Trump Admin killed (according to their admission) eleven people earlier this last week, sans a Declaration of War on a nation, sans Letters of Marque and Reprisal to hire mercenaries in order for the Pres to go after non-state aggressors, sans Due Process or even an accusation of a crime or request for extradition from a foreign land, and sans any constitutional justification for the so-called "drug laws" the Trumpers claim these guys might have been trying to breach. One does not have to like Google to know that government impositions of "monopoly fines" are absurd, especially coming from statism, which is the monopoly on the use of legalized aggression. As bad as Google is, its dominance is on the decline because people don't trust it (easy to not trust, since it got a ton of help getting started via the US government). What's doubly ironic here is that Donald Trump is upset that the EU is fining Google, even as Trump imposes massive tariff taxes on us if we attempt to buy foreign products. Let's keep in mind that Trump's new tariff on most EU goods comes to appx 15.8%, and at this time last year, the average was 2.3%. This is an increase of more than 580% . You can be the judge as to whether Mr. Trump has any moral leg on which to stand when it comes to accusing governments of imposing undue burdens on consumers or blocking competition. Treasury Sec Scott Bessent is setting a rhetorical path for coming Trump policy to offer handouts to home-buyers and subsidize realtors, as the housing market continues to slide.
