  • 43. Are Carbs Good or Bad? And What Actually Matters

Are carbohydrates really responsible for weight gain, insulin resistance, and all the metabolic problems we keep hearing about? Or have we been blaming the wrong thing?

In this episode, I'm breaking down what actually matters when it comes to carbohydrates. I'll talk about why an apple and a sugary soda aren't metabolically equivalent, what happens to your blood sugar and insulin after eating, and why eliminating carbs can sometimes mean missing out on important nutrients and fiber.

I'll also explain why I'm not a fan of giving everyone the same carbohydrate recommendations, how food quality influences your metabolic health, and why you don't necessarily need to fear every glucose spike.

Before you eliminate another food group, let's look at the bigger picture. My goal is to help you understand which carbohydrates work for your body so you can stop following restrictive food rules and start making informed nutrition choices.

  • 42. The Most Underrated Form of Exercise? Just Walk.

Walking might be one of the most underrated things you can do for your health. It doesn’t require a gym, special equipment, or a complicated training plan, and you don’t have to hit 10,000 steps for it to count.

In this episode, I explain why exercise and daily movement aren't the same thing, why an hour-long workout doesn’t necessarily make up for sitting most of the day, and what research on step count suggests about cardiovascular health, blood sugar, cognitive health, and healthy aging. I also shares simple ways to move more without turning your step count into another health metric to obsess over. The goal is simple: start where you are and make it better.

  • 41. GLP-1s: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

GLP-1 medications tend to get talked about in extremes. They’re either miracle drugs that solve the weight problem, or they’re dangerous shortcuts people should avoid. In this episode, I get out of those two camps and talk about what these medications can actually do, and where things can go wrong when the medication becomes the entire strategy.

You’ll hear about the significant weight-loss and health benefits being seen with GLP-1 medications, but also the other side of the conversation: GI side effects, inadequate nutrition, loss of lean mass, and what can happen when the medication is discontinued. I'll explain why protein alone isn’t enough to protect muscle, why resistance training matters, and why your maintenance plan should start long before you reach your goal weight. The goal isn’t to become the lightest version of yourself. It’s to become healthier, stronger, and more metabolically resilient.

  • 40. The Protein Paradox: Why More Protein Isn't Always Better

Protein is important, but somewhere along the way, “eat enough protein” turned into “put protein in everything.” Protein cereal, protein chips, protein cookies, protein coffee, protein bars…the list goes on. In this episode, I explain why a food having 20 grams of protein doesn’t automatically make it a healthy choice and why simply adding more protein products to your existing diet can actually work against your goals.

This becomes even more important if you’re taking a GLP-1. With a reduced appetite, you have less nutritional “real estate,” which means every bite needs to do more for you. I'll break down protein quality, why resistance training is just as important as protein for preserving muscle, how individual protein needs can vary, and what a nutrient-dense meal actually looks like. The goal isn’t to win a protein-eating contest, it’s to lose fat while protecting your muscle, metabolism, and long-term health.

  • 39. Alcohol & Your Thyroid: Do You Really Need to Give It Up?

If you have Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism, do you really need to give up alcohol to improve your thyroid health?

The answer isn’t as simple as “alcohol is bad for your thyroid.” In this episode, I’m breaking down what we actually know about alcohol and thyroid function, and why I’m often more interested in what alcohol is doing to your sleep, energy, blood sugar, metabolism, digestion, and recovery.

We’ll talk about how alcohol interacts with the brain-thyroid connection, liver and thyroid hormone metabolism, why research on alcohol and thyroid health isn’t as straightforward as social media makes it sound, and when temporarily removing alcohol may give you useful information about your body.

You’ll also learn what to pay attention to if you decide to take a break from alcohol, how to reintroduce it intentionally, and why the better question may not be, “Am I allowed to drink?” but “Is it worth the way I feel afterward?”

If you’re dealing with fatigue, poor sleep, weight-loss resistance, Hashimoto’s, blood sugar issues, or simply feel like your body isn’t responding the way it used to, this episode will help you look at alcohol through a different lens.

  • 38. The GLP-1 Mistakes That Could Cost You Muscle, Metabolism & Long-Term Results

GLP-1 medications can be a powerful tool for weight loss, blood sugar regulation, and reducing food noise, but they aren't the whole solution. In this episode, I explain some of the common struggles I'm seeing with women taking GLP-1 medications, including rapid weight loss, significant side effects, difficulty eating enough, and losing too much muscle. I explain why simply taking the medication without addressing nutrition, lifestyle, and long-term habits can make it much harder to maintain your results.

I also break down why muscle preservation, gut health, nutrition, resistance training, and a plan for life after the medication need to be part of your GLP-1 strategy from the beginning. Whether you're considering a GLP-1, already taking one, or struggling with your results, this episode will help you understand why the medication should be viewed as a tool, not a quick fix, and how personalized support can help you get better, more sustainable results.

You're excited to start a GLP-1 medication... but are you actually prepared for long-term success?

GLP-1 medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, and Zepbound® are helping thousands of people lose weight and improve their health. But there's one problem I see over and over again in my nutrition practice: people receive the prescription, but never receive the nutrition plan.

In this episode, I'm sharing exactly what I believe every woman should do before taking her first injection. I'll talk about why protein matters, how to protect your metabolism and muscle, why strength training is non-negotiable, how to reduce digestive side effects, and the biggest mistakes that often lead to rebound weight gain after stopping the medication.

If you're considering a GLP-1, or you've already started one, this episode will help you build the healthy habits that make the medication work even better and protect your results for years to come.

I honestly didn't think my gut was that unhealthy.

Sure, I'd noticed a little extra inflammation, feeling overly full after eating, and not feeling quite like myself lately, but I chalked it all up to stress and a busy season of life. Then I ran a GI Map test on myself... and the results completely surprised me.

In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain and sharing my own test results, what they mean, the gut imbalances I discovered, and the protocol I'm following to heal my gut. I'll also explain why you don't need obvious digestive symptoms to have significant gut dysfunction and why so many women normalize feeling "just okay." If you've ever wondered whether your gut could be affecting your energy, inflammation, thyroid, or overall health, this episode is for you.
