The Good Samaritan provides a picture of a person who does not strive to inherit eternal life. There is nothing that we can do earn God’s love; it has been done. The Good Samaritan loves because he is loved and has been changed from the inside. He is not merciful to earn anything, and he is merciful because he has been the recipient of mercy. In this sermon, Wynand explores how this parable serves as a picture of how followers of Jesus should live today.
