Train Hard Live Strong

Youth strength training and the advantage of starting as young as 5 years old with Spencer Moorman

Listen Later

As a kid growing up I was always told "If you train to young you will stunt your growth". Overloading the body with uncontrollable weight and form will always cause harm to anyone no matter what age you are. The benefits of being 5 years old and starting to weightlift are: growing into the motor skills needed to lift with good form, a absorbing brain that is absorbing an incredible amount of information a day, pliable joints and extreme flexibility. From the sounds of it, starting at a young age sounds like it should be the ideal route.

The amazing guest speaker today, Spencer Moorman, talks about his experience when he started at 8 years old and now his experience as a coach training youths to be incredible humans in the strength training and movement realm. He brings so much knowledge about training at a young age and the benefits of it all. Not only that, but he also dives into the mindset aspect of it all and how young athletes use strength training to improve their attitudes, emotions, form, and functional power.
