In 2019, the state of Hawai‘i led the nation in the number of teens who attempted suicide at least once in high school. According to the U.S. Office of Adolescent Health, one out of every 10 Hawai‘i teens tried to commit suicide. On July 1 of that year, youth suicide became very real to Chad Starr, when Chad’s 12-year-old daughter Sienna took her own life. Since then, Chad has been on a crusade to share his message of hope and awareness.
