This initiative, announced in July 2025 by CBS News, seeks to safeguard young teens from inappropriate content by limiting personalized advertising and repetitive views of certain videos for those identified as underage. The tool will assess age based on viewing habits and account history, with an option for users to upload ID if an incorrect age is inferred. This development follows YouTube's CEO Neal Mohan's initial announcement in February and builds upon existing safety features like supervised accounts, aiming to further protect the platform's large teenage user base.
