As South Africans no longer trust it to follow through on its stated policies or engage effectively with the population.

The Afrobarometer, with assistance from Insititute for Justice and Reconciliation, interviewed over 1,500 adults South Africans to study their perceptions of key institutions and government officials.

Public trust in key institutions has remained weak, with only 27% of South Africans in 2022 (2021: 38%) saying that they trust the president “somewhat” or “a lot.”

Trust in Parliament also dropped from 28% to 23%, which the Afrobarometer links to ongoing scandals surrounding members of parliament and a perception of ineffective anti-corruption laws.

2023)23-year-old man has been sentenced to 241 for allegedly being involved in the murder of five (5) police officers.A 23-year-old known as Siphesihle Tatsi has been found guilty for various charges.It is alleged that the young man was part of Mancoba (7) Angeles cult that had killed five (5) on duty police officer in Engcobo, 2018.The High Court has sentenced Siphesihle Tatsi to 241 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to all the charges against him.It is reported that the young men pleaded guilty to (22) counts which include murder, attempted murder and in possession of unlicensed firearms.
