महाराज धृतराष्ट्र को गांधारी की एक दासी सुगधा से भी एक पुत्र हुआ, जिसका नाम युयुत्सु था। युयुत्सु अन्य कौरवों से अलग अत्यंत निष्ठावान व धर्मपरायण थे। युयुत्सु हमेशा से ही दुर्योधन के अधर्मो का विरोध करते आये थे और उसके द्वारा रचे गए हर षड़यंत्र के बारे में पांडवों को सचेत करते। 

यद्यपि विकर्ण और युयुत्सु दोनों ही दुर्योधन के द्वारा सम्पादित अनाचार के विरोधी थे, केवल युयुत्सु ने ही अंत में कौरवों का साथ छोड़ देने का निश्चय किया। युयुत्सु से महाभारत का युद्ध पांडवों की तरफ से लड़ा था। वे युद्ध में जीवित बचने वाले धृतराष्ट्र के इकलौते पुत्र थे जो कि परीक्षित के राजा बनने पर उनके संरक्षक के रूप में नियुक्त हुए।

Yuyutsu

Dhritarshtra had one son from Gandhari’s maid, Yuyutsu. Yuyutsu was different from other Kaurava brothers and chose to be on the right side of Dharma all his life. He was the one who would warn Pandava brothers regarding Duryodhan’s schemes to harm them as a kid.

In the Mahabharat war he chose to fight against his brothers and chose to side with Pandavas. He was the only son of Dhritarashtra to survive the great war.

In the end when Parikshit was made the king of Hastinapur, Yuyutsu was appointed his guardian.
