Zahhak - Serpent King of Persian Mythology. Great Stories from History & Mythology

Listen Later

Zahhak, the evil serpent King of Persian Mythology is a fascinating  figure with a fascinating story. Corrupted by the devil of Persian Mythology Ahriman, Zahhak grows two huge snakes from his shoulders,  gradually becoming the monster he now looks like.

Zahhak ruled for centuries with an Iron fist, hated by his people until a man named Fereydun rose up and defeated him, becoming a hero. Is Zahhak the villain, the evil serpent King certainly seems that way. Or is he in a way the victim, corrupted and cursed by Ahriman, the devil of Persian mythology?
