In our last session, Jialun and I had a moment over “participation” vs “attendance”. Jialun shared that he often wondered, 老師到底在做什麼筆記？Well, mystery solved！They’re marking your participation in class!
We also talked about the noticeable difference in participation between Chinese students and Latinx students. 我們還談到了中國學生和拉丁裔學生在參與方面的顯著差異。When we participate, we not only practice our spoken English, we also practice our confidence. 當我們 participate 的時候，我們不僅練習了我們的英語口語，也練習了我們的自信。
To re-cap (重述), please do not interpret one as the other! 請不要把 participation 理解為 attendance！Because they mean very different things, especially within the context of going to school in the West. Participation 和 Attendance 在中文裡都是類似的詞，但是在西方，它們的意思卻截然不同!
如果你在海外上學的話，可千萬別小看 participation marks！大膽開口發言！因為老師在打分哦！
