'Zhenhua Data Leaks A Wake-Up Call For India: Cyber Security Expert Pavan Duggal'
Among the targets of the global surveillance mounted by the Chinese firm Zhenhua Data are over 10,000 Indians, ranging from top
politicians, business leaders, security mandarins etc. It’s a wake-up call for a country like India that doesn’t have a dedicated cyber security law, says Dr Pavan Duggal, Chairman of the International Commission on Cyber Security Law.
What Zhenhua has done is a sophisticated form of data espionage, he told StratNews Global, adding that the ‘leaky digital ecosystem' in
India has been infiltrated by Chinese apps.Indians tend to ‘vomit’ a lot of information about their personal, professional and social lives without even thinking how this could impact their digital present and digital future, said the cyber security expert.
He shared a note of caution: ‘People should realize that they are the custodians of their own data; the government has a limited enabling role but cyber hygiene needs to be begin at home’.
