This is Carter Conlon reading to you today from the book of 2 Chronicles chapter 7, and verse 14, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

As a society today we search for answers to the violence in our schools, the addictions in our towns, and the eroding of our homes and our values. I suggest to you that the solution is already in our hands. As the people of God, if we will fold our hands in petition, and raise them in surrender to the will of God; the future of our nation can be changed; it’s that simple.

It’s time to put down the pencils of human strategy. It’s time to stop pointing the finger of blame. It’s time to stop clasping our hands in anguish, and beating our chests in despair.

It’s time to pray!

We’re living in a society today, when there are all kinds of people and organizations that seem devoted to destroying everything that has to deal with prayer and the name of God in this society. There’s a point, even throughout history, when men, women, and children have to make a choice. Do we obey those things that are telling us to do what our conscience dictates is the right thing?

Every man, woman, and child in the United States of America was born and given life by Almighty God and we are called to come back to Him in prayer and to worship Him and to live for Him and to listen to Him and to serve Him. There comes a time, one of the apostles said it,  “that we ought to obey God and not men.”

So let them launch their lawsuits all they want to launch. We will continue to go our knees. We will continue to pray. God bless you, those who are standing for truth. For I believe as you do.

It’s time to pray.

This is Carter Conlon. I think we can all agree that we are living in difficult times, and that we all need to pray. And here’s Doris from Toronto, Canada, “I give God the glory for lifting this depression from me. Now I’m singing and praising the Lord every day. Thank you all for your prayers, God bless you.” God bless you Doris.

This is Carter Conlon reading to you today from the book of 1 Timothy chapter 6 and verse 12. The apostle Paul says these words, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed a good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

Sir Winston Churchill is best remembered for his strong leadership, and inspiring confidence during one of the deepest crisis moments in history. Holding a besieged and frightened people together, his determination led an outnumbered society to stand up and believe that in God the victory could and would be theirs. To him, defeat was never an option. He once told the people these words, he said, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” He also said, “Success is not final, and failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.”

This is Carter Conlon today speaking to you this Father’s Day from Psalm 29. This Psalm speaks about the voice of God, the voice of the Lord. His voice is over the waters. His voice is powerful. “The voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars.” That means difficult places that maybe others, including ourselves, have to face in life. “The voice of the Lord divides the flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness. The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth.” Or in other words, brings new life into the world.

As a father, this Father’s Day remember that God has given you that spiritual authority in your voice. You have the power to direct your home. You have the power to speak into the lives of those that are under your authority. You have the power to direct your children. You have the power to cast down things that would come against them to try to destroy them. You get this power through prayer and an intimate relationship with God.

We know that our prayers are becoming effective when we begin to recognize and appreciate others who are also attempting to stand for God’s truth in our day. The book of Colossians chapter 1 and verse 3 says this, “We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.”

Now Paul was telling these people, since we heard of your faith and love, we pray for spiritual strength to increase in you. You and I must today recognize the body of Jesus Christ, and pray beyond the walls of our own churches. None of us can do this alone.

Here at Times Square Church, in our prayer meetings, we’re beginning to pray for churches in the city, oft times by name. We pray for other believers in Christ, recognizing that we are all in this battle together, and as God lives, we need one another.

It’s time to pray!

In Ezekiel chapter 36 we see an incredible sign of the mercy of God. His willingness to take His own people out of all the places of captivity we found ourselves. To bring us out into victory, to cleanse us with clean water, to give us a new heart, give us a new spirit, give us a new mind.

To put His spirit within us and cause us to walk in the ways that will glorify His name on the earth. He promises to place us in towns and cities to be such a visible example of who He is that nations and people will know that He is God. You and I must pray for seasons like this once again in our time. God is so willing to re-gather us, forgive us, to restore us. Not because we have done right, but simply because of who He is. You and I must have in our hearts the desire to see His name glorified in our generation again.

It’s time to pray.

From New Jersey, “We’ve been praying for our son’s salvation for years, but it wasn’t until the prayer group at Times Square Church prayed for him that he announced, ‘I want to be a Christian.'”

Don’t leave your family out. This is Carter Conlon reminding you, it’s time to pray!

This is Carter Conlon, reading to you today from the book of 2 Timothy chapter 2, beginning at verse 3, “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. And also, if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.”

Now most today who study the elements of a successful army would agree that a fighting force that is too long unchallenged can lose its focus. It can begin to forget its purpose, become diverted, and easily be brought to surrender through opposition.

There is a promise of great victory and reward if we will again consider God’s intended purpose for us as His church, in our time. Let’s not back away from the challenge that’s ahead of us. We are promised the victory. Through Christ we are more than conquerors.

Most people my age are looking to retire, but I’m not. I feel like the psalmist in Psalm 71 who said these words in verses 17 and 18: “Oh God, you have taught me from my youth, and to this day I declare your wondrous works. Now also, when I’m old and grey-headed. Oh God, do not forsake me until I have declared your strength to this generation, your power to everyone who is to come.”

We live in a time where the youth in our streets are so lacking in the knowledge of God’s power. It falls upon all of us to be a demonstration to them of the love and of the power of God. The prophet Malachi said one of the signs of the last days is that God is going to come and turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children back to their fathers.

I believe this with all my heart, and this is why I still pray. It’s time to pray!
