LOVING GOD WITH YOUR MIND - God wants to raise up a group of people who think and assess differently from the world. A person can learn to carry out instructions without ever loving the Instructor. That’s not God’s plan. A person can carry out instructions without ever confronting a fallen mind set. God doesn’t want to just leave us messages. He wants to train us to think differently.

LOVING GOD WITH YOUR MIND - The Christian life can't be copied - we need to pray for God to change us from the inside out for any lasting change. It can't be selective, like when you go down a dinner buffet and choose which items you want and which you'd rather leave out. It also isn't meant to be about duty and obligation it's about savouring and contemplating the mercies of God through how we use our body and mind in worship.

ORDINARY PEOPLE MEETING AN AMAZING GOD - Why do we need courage when God is with us? Joshua rises up to take the place of Moses to lead the people into the promise land and so are we too called to lead as Christians in obedience and truth when it seems like we are the only voice speaking out for the Lord. Whether that be in university or college, at work, or in the home - we are called to be courageous and strong because He will bring us to victory.

LOVING GOD WITH YOUR MIND - Somewhere along the way, amid all the activities of church and work and family, some church-goers quit thinking of themselves as redeemed sinners - a miracle of God’s mercy. And when that happens they stop seeing other people as redeemed sinners too. And when we shelve the “mercies of God” we lose the fuel to do two things. We can no longer renew our minds, no matter how brilliant, and we stop transforming our world. And all we’ll have to pass on to our kids will be a dull, religious list of rules. So much is at stake here, church. Remember, make mercy the operating system for all the other programs of your life.

ORDINARY PEOPLE MEETING AN AMAZING GOD - God is always looking for people who care more about honoring Him than being well thought of by the crowd. God seeks people who refuse compromise or drift. Travel the globe - there not a monument constructed to a grumbler. Joshua shows us how important it is that we learn to look at our problems through the lens of our God rather then look at God through the lens of our difficulties.

LOVING GOD WITH YOUR MIND - God calls us to live a life of devotion, separation and loving, passionate, obedience to Him. All of my behavior, emotions, and plans and thoughts are to be renewed by the Holy Spirit. But this renewal isn’t accidental and it isn’t arbitrary. It can’t just be pumped up in our corporate worship times. It can’t be regulated by rules and laws. It can’t just be inherited from parents like red hair or freckled skin. We need to be Christians who do what we do because we're awaiting Christ's return not living for the short term.

ORDINARY PEOPLE MEETING AN AMAZING GOD - You can tell what is propping a life up when those things are slowly knocked away. Only the life built around the things of God will have true staying power. Endurance doesn’t just come from will-power. It comes first from understanding. Because Moses didn't have his heart set on the visible, passing things of this earth he was able to outlast all the storms of life.

EASTER 2011 SERMON SERIES - The Holy Spirit works from the inside out rather than the outside in. His presence is made known by two truths that dwell within, a passion for pleasing the Lord in holiness and repenting, knowing in it we live free from condemnation. Missing either one from our walk with the Lord is not living life to the fullest with Him.

ORDINARY PEOPLE MEETING AN AMAZING GOD - A rapid career promotion that brings power, influence, and wealth is what Joseph was dealing with when he was met with temptation from Potiphar's wife. However, power and wealth don't make a person ungodly, but they reveal the genuineness of our character for God because they remove many of the natural restraints to ungodly ambitions and appetites.
