Worry is just the opposite of faith. Worry says, “God, you’re lying. You say you will take care of me, but I don’t trust you, so I will worry about it.”

Fear is sand and Faith is oil in the machinery of life. Fear just grinds away at us, mentally and physically. Some fear is protective, in a moment of crisis. But if it is an ongoing generalized fear, it harms and paralyzes us.

As long as we see God’s will and listen, when He speaks to us: We do not have to just flounder around and come to the end of our lives, regretting choices we have made! God has a plan for every area of our life, not just our church. He has plans for our education, our business, our marriage, our reactions, everything. God has a plan for our lives.

This is not a funeral, it’s a feast. The first Lord’s Supper took place on the night of the Passover feast. This is not a moment of silence for a dead friend. It is a meal of celebration with Someone

The Passover lambs, being raised by the priests in the fields of Bethlehem, were out there when Jesus was born. And over here is born Mary’s Lamb, a sinless man, who will be examined by the Sadducees and the Pharisees and the Herodians and the scribes and the Roman officers. They were trying to find some fault in the Lord Jesus. But Pilate had to confess, “I find no fault in him.” John 19:4, 6 He was the perfect Lamb.

Although mankind in all of our scientific advancement has made the world very complex, John breaks down the entire universe into two things: God and not God. The mystery is compounded by the fact that between that which is God and that which is not God is a great and impassable gulf. The mystery is how the infinite can become the finite, and how that which has no limit deliberately imposes upon Himself limitations.

It is evident that God has revealed things to us. We have various words to describe certain elements of this disclosure, for example, the Incarnation. We really do not know how He did that, we do not fully know how God can be both personal and sovereign/transcendent. We cannot comprehend just how the one God can be three in one.

If the heart of sinfulness is self-centeredness, the heart of all biblical religion is God-centeredness. In our fallenness, we constrict all there is to our petty horizons. Most of us think of all relationships in terms of their impact on us; our daydreams circle around our life and circumstances; our goals and hopes invariably turn on our place in the universe.
