001. The unrealistic terms and labels placed on women's bodies

In this episode we discuss the trends and terms that have been associated as 'ideals' for women's bodies and their appearance. From the 90's when being 'skinny' was idolised to the 2000's where larger bodies began to be embraced and to now, terms such as 'slim thick' being used more heavily on social media. 

The challenge that arises is that trends, fads and expectations of women's bodies change over time and whilst your body will also change over the course of your life there is a good chance that it will not always suit the current trend that is in season. 

We've realised that aiming to suit such trends and failing to meet such unrealistic expectations results more so in disappointment, feelings of low self-worth and exclusion and can lead to severe body dysmorphia issues.  

Rather than trying to fit into a warped world of filters, photoshop and ideals that can be heavily influenced by your genetic makeup, focussing your efforts towards your own personal health and fitness goals can be a much more sustainable and ultimately fulfilling path.
