The idea of resting and recovering are usually the main pillars when it comes to growth in any capacity. You're not isolating yourself from anything or anyone; you're just analyzing and acknowledging the damage inflicted on your mental wellbeing. Adding on, there is a method called the "Stop, Pause, & Play" method (I came up with this 😅) where you think of yourself as a console controller or as a remote control. If you consider them and utilize them in the correct form, then you'll be able to achieve mental growth.
