Back in 1999, Jerry saw a need within the financial services industry, it was operationally burdensome to manage customized, tax, risk, and expense sensitive personal portfolios. It is a burden that was even heavier given that technology solutions of today weren't around to help financial advisors back in '99. The burden that Jerry looked to solve in 1999 is one that advisors continue to be challenged with in 2019. Jerry and his team at Smartleaf have solved this problem, but more importantly, Jerry saw a need in the industry and was a visionary to bring technology, when it wasn't hip to do so, into an industry that has tended to be shy to use new tech.
