One of the most common myths in real estate is that you can’t be friends--or friendly--with your competition. The truth is you need good relationships with other realtors to build your network. If you’re unapproachable, other agents won’t like you, leading to fewer referrals.
Creating openness and friendliness with your clients so they feel comfortable calling you even when you’re not making a commission builds trust. It’s the difference between a scarcity mindset and one of abundance. When you understand that there is plenty of work to do, you feel less inclined to hold onto every crumb of business for yourself, which often leads to more work because you don’t have the dreaded commission breath.
In this episode of The Art of Agency, Jonathan and Mallory talk to Brett Sikora, the broker-owner and team leader of The Sikora Group in Morristown, New Jersey. Brett has been running his team since 2016 after spending years as a solo agent. He operates on an abundance mindset, and it’s served him and his team well over the past several years.
Brett is all about building collaboration with other real estate agents, helping the agents on his team build their brands, and creating a culture of camaraderie within his team.
