So, Why should you use lip balm when you record? The short answer is: it helps prevent lip smack. Now, you may be thinking, why is this an issue? As you go about improving the quality of your recordings, some of the things you should focus on are removing unwanted sounds and words like um and that sharp smack sound that so many of us tend to do when we're thinking about what we're going to say next. A little bit of lip gloss applied right before you record is usually enough to eliminate the problem so your lips don't smack.
